Winter Skin Care

  • Post category:Blog

A harsh drop in temperature  can devastate your skin, leaving you looking dehydrated, tired and jaded, luckily LuxIt has you sorted with tips to nourish the skin you’re in ensuring that  you remain glowing in and out this winter.

  1. Gentle Exfoliation- It is important to not be overzealous with your exfoliating during the winter time as the cold air and dryness leaves your skin more exposed and too much exfoliating will irritate its surface. Ideally aim to exfoliate once a week to remove dead skin cells and rejuvenate the production of new ones. Use a loofah  or exfoliating glove paired with warm water and a moisturiser based cleanser and use circular based motions to remove dead skin cells. (Remember to replace your loofah and exfoliating gloves every two months)

  1. Hydration-  Hydration is key in maintaining pampered skin! Drinking that extra glass or two of water with every meal will aid your body by cleansing away toxins , this will then be reflected in your skin’s appearance.  (and overall wellbeing) You should aim to drink ideally two litres of water a day to keep your skin happy. In terms of keeping hydrated scalding hot showers and baths are not your friend, no matter how cold it might be outside!  This is because hot water evaporates almost immediately drying out your skin and creating cracks in its surface. Opt for warm temperatures showers and baths, and once you hop out be sure to moisturise as soon as you are dry, to absorb as much of your shower water as possible.

Moisturising- maintaining a regular moisturising routine is crucial to healthy skin , avoid fragranced ones as they are a common irritant. For extra nourishment search for a formula that is richer in antioxidants to increase rejuvenation levels.  For scaly elbows, knees and cracked knuckles coconut oil may be a better alternative, as its smaller molecules hydrate more thoroughly for areas that need extra attention.
