Uber has changed how we move around our cities — personally, my car-less life is about 100 percent more convenient because of it.
So when I heard the concept had been applied to beauty services, I was pretty excited. Last night I trialled the free app LUXit for myself and I have to say I was impressed.
Like a hairstyling, makeup application and spray tanning delivery service, freelancers in your area are contacted when you book through the app and come to you, within an hour. Clever. A little more exxy than booking yourself in at your local salon — it’s $110 for makeup, $60 for a spray tan, $75 for a blowdry, and $160 for hair and makeup together — but you get them coming to you at home, at work, or at a hotel, seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.. So handy.
All monies go through the app, so there’s no need to worry about having cash on-hand either.
All the experts are thoroughly checked before they can join — they go through a police check, qualification and certification check and they must have insurance and business ABN — so no fakes or scary experiences, which is really good to know.
The amazing freelancer I had was a gem, so much so I asked her if you could select the person you want through the app, and she said you could, you just need to contact LUXIT and they’ll reach out to them direct. Currently the app is only available in Sydney, but we’ll be sure to let you know if it expands to other cities in Australia.
